Post IVF Treatment – Embryo Transfer and Pregnancy Test

Our team of embryologists, through careful monitoring fertilize the embryo in the laboratory environment, and it is formed within 2 to 6 days. We use a special catheter that is painless to transfer the embryo the mother’s womb. It is a simple process that takes 5-10 minutes. After the IVF treatment stages, we use a pregnancy test to check if it was successful or not.

Types of Embryo Transfers

There are 3 types of embryo transfers that patients can receive after their treatment. These include:

Fresh Embryo Transfer: After the eggs are retrieved and fertilized, embryos are cultured for several days before one or more are transferred into the uterus.

Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET): In cases where embryos are frozen after IVF cycles, they can be thawed and transferred at a later time. FET can offer benefits like timing flexibility and reduced stress on the woman’s body.

Blastocyst Embryo Transfer: Embryos that reach the blastocyst stage (5-6 days after fertilization) are transferred. Blastocysts have a higher chance of implantation due to their advanced development.

Success Factors for Embryo Transfer:

  • Age: The age of the woman and the quality of the embryos are significant factors in the success of embryo transfer.
  • Embryo Quality: High-quality embryos have better implantation potential.
  • Uterine Health: A healthy, receptive uterus is essential for successful embryo implantation.
  • Embryo Transfer Technique: A skilled embryologist and doctor can increase the chances of successful implantation.

After Embryo Transfer

After the embryo transfer is completed, the expecting mother can take a shower after 1 day. They are recommended to take another pregnancy test 12 days after the embryo transfer. We do not recommend sexual intercourse during this waiting period. Even in cases where pregnancy results are positive, the mother does not stop taking the prescribed medicine for the next 3 months.
